TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language)
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) serves as a universally acknowledged standardized examination for evaluating the English language proficiency of individuals who are not native English speakers. It enjoys broad acceptance among universities, colleges, and institutions worldwide as an indicator of one’s capacity to comprehend, employ, and communicate in English with proficiency.
TOEFL is administered in two main formats: the TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) and the TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test). The TOEFL iBT is the most commonly used format and is conducted online, measuring skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The TOEFL PBT, though less common, still assesses these skills but is administered on paper.
The TOEFL test consists of four sections.
Reading (54-72 minutes):
The reading component of the exam comprises 3 to 4 passages with a diverse range of topics, each followed by 10 questions. Scores for this section can vary from 0 to 30, and you can explore TOEFL reading practice tests for further preparation.
Listening (41-57 minutes):
In this section, It contains 3 to 4 lectures, resembling classroom discussions, each spanning approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Following these lectures, you will respond to 6 questions. Additionally, you’ll listen to everyday conversations and answer 5 questions for each conversation. The listening portion features accents primarily from North America, with occasional accents from Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Speaking (17 minutes):
This section encompasses 4 tasks. First, you’ll tackle an independent task where you express your opinion on a familiar topic with 30 seconds of preparation time. Next, there are 3 integrated speaking tasks related to reading and listening, allowing you 1 minute for preparation. The section has a total duration of 17 minutes, and your scoring ranges from 0 to 4 points, which are then converted to a scale from 0 to 30. Writing (50 minutes) :
In this part of the test, you will complete two tasks.

Evaluation Method:
The TOEFL test yields a total score ranging from 0 to 120. The assessment process involves a collaboration between Certified Educational Testing Service administrators. Online score reports are typically available six days after the test, while hard copy reports can be obtained within 11 days of the examination.
